Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Hello!  LCC1 would like to welcome our two new children to class; Cameron and Fletcher.  New friendships are already being formed and all the children are enjoying our new fairy tale; Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

In literacy the children have listened well to the story of Goldilocks and have been able to answer questions about what happens in the story.  Everyone enjoyed making playdough using porridge oats.  Here are some photos of the children using their measuring, pouring and mixing skills.

In numeracy we have been learning about dice dot patterns and have played lots of games by rolling dice.  We have also been ordering sizes of porridge bowls from smallest to biggest.

In literacy we followed instructions to make porridge and some of us tasted the porridge that was 'just right'.  Basia enjoyed using the bear to role play eating the porridge.

We have explored different materials in art and designed our own bears.

Everyone worked hard at weaving a quilt for baby bear's bed using strips of card.  The quilts look lovely and colourful!

In ICT the children have been using Smartboard Notebook software and have     been learning how to use the Smartboard pens.  Below you can see the children are getting very good at changing the colour and thickness of the pens to trace over pictures of characters from our story and explore the pens with patterns.

Jamie learned how to change pen thickness

Jack is concentrating very hard on his drawing

Cameron changing his pen colour

Fletcher is colouring in Mummy Bear

In drama the children re-enacted the story using props and masks.  They all did very well with their acting and we will continue to practise next week.  We shall film their work and share our performance with our friends in LCC2!

In cooking this week we made delicious bear biscuits.  Everyone sat beautifully and waited for their turn at measuring, pouring, mixing and cutting out bears.  We look forward to decorating them tomorrow morning!

Our science topic this term is forces.  Jack and Jamie were very busy last week and made a mini movie all about pushes and pulls.  The other children enjoyed watching their creation and would like to have a go at being filmed next week showing things that can be pushed and pulled.

We hope you enjoy looking at the fantastic work the children are producing.  You are welcome to leave a comment if you wish.
