In drama the children enjoyed using toy people and animals as props to help them re-tell the story of the Gingerbread Man. They all enjoyed saying 'Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!'
In numeracy the children practised recognising dot patterns and adding two dice together then colouring the correct number on their gingerbread man. When they had found all the numbers their gingerbread men were beautifully decorated with colourful buttons!
Other lessons in numeracy included putting a number of buttons on their salt dough gingerbread man. The children used stickers as buttons and were able to count out how many they had put on.
In cooking lessons we made gingerbread men again. Jamie, Jack and Basia all followed instructions very well to make their biscuits and had a lot of fun decorating them. They used lots of different types of icing and decorations this time. They tasted delicious!
The children followed instructions to make a paper plate fox using tissue paper, card, foam pieces and googly eyes. Everyone did very well and created wonderful fox faces.
In I.C.T Basia, Jack and Jamie are learning how to use the Smartboard's Notebook software. In particular, how to use the Smartboard pens. This week they learned which icons to press to change the pen colour and thickness. They practised their new skill through tracing over a gingerbread man.
Finally, the children had individual step-by-step drawing lessons using Art For Kids Hub on YouTube to create characters from the story including a horse, pig and cow. They painted grass, a path and a river for the background scenery. Below is a picture of the resulting display in class.
