The Three Little Pigs

We have had yet another fun filled and busy week in LCC1! :)

We have continued our theme of The Three Little Pigs and enjoyed designing our own house in Art & Design.  We then created our house using recycled boxes and bottles.  We made choices about how to join parts together using a variety of materials; including glue, masking tape and sticky tape.  Look at our work:

In literacy this week we retold the story of the Three Little Pigs using the Book Creator app on the iPad.  We used our pictures that we drew last week and moved our pieces to create scenes which we then photographed using the iPad.  Then we added sound to each page of our story.  This was so much fun!  We enjoyed sharing our stories with each other.  Mrs Lawrie, our Headteacher, was so impressed by our good work that we each got stickers and a special pencil! Here are some photos of the process:

Jamie, Jack and Basia used the Book Creator app well to make their Three Little Pigs story.

Basia enjoyed moving her characters and houses for each scene then used the iPad well to photograph each for her story.

Jamie also got creative with his scenes and characters!

After the books were created, Jamie Jack and Basia stuck their characters onto their backgrounds to create these beautiful pictures:

In numeracy we ordered sticks from shortest to tallestand solved problems with patterns of pigs, wolves and the different houses.  We also practised our counting skills by counting groups of pictures of our story characters.

Next week our theme will be The Gingerbread Man.  We are looking forward to writing a recipe, cooking, decorating gingerbread men and making masks to use for drama!

LCC1 and the Three Little Pigs

Welcome back LCC1!

LCC1 have had a very busy first week back at school.  We listened to the story of the Three Little Pigs and created houses using straws, sticks and Duplo bricks.

In art we had drawing lessons using Art for Kids Hub on Youtube and drew lovely little pigs and big bad wolves.

We have enjoyed drama this week!  We made masks and took turns being a little pig or the wolf.  We liked huffing and puffing the best!

In technology we followed instructions well and practised our measuring, pouring and mixing skills to make very pink playdough!  We enjoyed making little pig faces afterwards.

In literacy we have sequenced pictures of the story and added symbol sentences to each picture.  We know the story quite well now!  We will continue to work with our Three Little Pigs theme and next week we will be re-telling the story in our own words.
