2D and 3D shapes

LCC1 have been busy learning all about 2D and 3D shapes.  The children have enjoyed learning through song, sorting objects, playing with magnetic shapes and building 3D models using Polydrons.

Here are two of the children's favourite songs;

Look at us sorting shapes into groups!

We loved making shape pictures and making patterns with the magnetic 2D shapes!

We had fun playing with the 2D shapes and made pictures using them.

Autumn

Autumn

The children in LCC1 have been learning all about Autumn time this week.  They had a look at the trees in the playground then painted these beautiful pictures of trees using autumnal colours.

We all followed instructions very well and practised our cutting skills to making a spikey hedgehog using a paper plate.

We also enjoyed painting large tree pictures and had fun mixing colours.  We used paint brushes or our fingers and hands.  Great fun!

We loved singing along to Pancake Manor's 4 Seasons in a Year song.  Here is the link if you would like to hear it at home:

Another song we listened to and sang along to was Autumn Leaves are Falling Down on YouTube.

Miss Kendall also sang a lovely song about leaves being blown down.  The children enjoyed joining in and blowing real leaves out her hands.

After going on a leaf hunt and describing their shapes and looking at all the different colours, the children made pictures by rubbing wax crayons over paper with leaves underneath.  They look great!

Book creator for Goldilocks

We used the book creator app on the iPad to make our our Goldilocks stories.  We moved about our props and took photographs using the iPad.  We then imported the photos and added sound clips for each page.  Here are some pictures of us having fun with Book Creator:

We enjoyed listening to each others' stories when they were finished!
Window's Movie Maker

We had a lot of fun in drama acting out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  We practised using different voices for Mummy Bear, Daddy Bear and Baby Bear.  Miss Donnelly took videos of each part of the story then used Window's Movie Maker software to make our movie!  We enjoyed watching ourselves on the big screen!
